Cardiff City Manager Malky Mackay has been handed a reprieve by Chairman Mehmet Dalman, according to The Telegraph.
"My definition of diplomacy is to create space for dialogue," Dalman said, according to the site.
"The important thing is that we try to find a way through this predicament. There's goodwill on Vincent's side. I've not had a chance to talk to Malky just yet, but I will obviously do that as well. We need to have further dialogue to see if we can get through this together for the good of the club, which is the most important thing."
Southampton, coming out of a 3-2 loss to the Tottenham Hotspurs, is expected to be the underdog in the match.
Southampton Manager Mauricio Pochettino said Luke Shaw is not going to Chelsea, according to The Mirror.
"I think there are many factors for our recent form; the calendar has meant we have faced some of the toughest teams in this league," he said, according to the site.
"When we have a fully fit team we are very solid but we haven't been able to have that for a number of reasons. We have to keep working and believing as a team."
